Whole Body Cryotherapy
-How does Whole Body Cryotherapy work?
Nitrogen gas is used to rapidly lower the surface temp. of the skin in 30 seconds or less. Skin receptors send messages to the brain to shunt the blood supply to the core in order to protect the core temperature, core temp is not affected during the session. The blood circulates among the vital organs until you step out and immediately start to warm back up. This results in increased oxygen and endorphins in the bloodstream for several hours.
-Is Nitrogen Dangerous?
No Nitrogen is a non-toxic natural gas, 78% of the air we breathe is composed of nitrogen
-Is it Cold? Painful?
There is no freezing involved, only the feeling of being cold. This process is simply cold air flowing over the surface of the skin. The air is dry and makes it surprisingly comfortable. This is much more tolerable than an ice bath. This also means you do not need to shower before or after the session.
-What do I wear?
During the session you will be provided socks, slippers and gloves to wear during the session, men must also wear underwear. This allows for %90 of the skin to be exposed to the hyper cooled air. We just ask that you do not apply lotion to you skin an hour before your session. Also jewelry from the neck down must be removed.
-Will I feel anything after my first session?
Because the effects of WBC are different for everyone it will depend entirely on how your body reacts to the session, typically most clients feel an increase of energy immediately after, some clients feel the impact the morning after. Many report better sleep and feeling reduced pain and inflammation for the next 48-72 hours.
-What do I do after my session?
We ask that you drink plenty of water, and pay attention on any differences throughout the next 24 hours or so. After the session nothing else special is required, you redress and are able to go about your day as normal, usually with more energy!
-How often can I do Cryotherapy?
This is dependent on what you are using WBC for.
You can enjoy two sessions a day, in fact we have many clients dealing with acute injuries or recovering from surgery who in fact do so.
-Is there anything dangerous about WBC?
No, unless conducted by an untrained technician or you have a contraindication. Tri One Cryotherapy’s certified technicians running your session are fully trained on safety and operational protocols, and are capable of stopping the session if you should want to get out before your session is done. We also use Criomed Cryochambers which are state of the art and equipped auto shut off, and vent the used nitrogen outdoors so there is no danger of inhalation.
-What are limitations for Cryotherapy?
The client must be 14 years of age or older, no maximum age limit. You cannot have any case of Raynaud’s Syndrome, blood clots or seizures, be pregnant or any other current major heart or vascular conditions. If you have had a stroke or heart attack you must be cleared by a medical doctor before your cryotherapy session.
